Job Summary

The Aims Visual Arts Department is an exciting, dynamic program that hosts several rotating exhibitions in a small gallery in Ed Beaty hall and a display case in the College Center. We are seeking reliable docents to help maintain and secure the gallery spaces. This will include: assisting the Gallery Director with installing and de-installing artworks, cleaning, greeting visitors to the space, and engaging in conversation with visitors when asked about the work on display. Work study students may also be asked to assist with administrative tasks and other duties as needed. These positions are ideal for art, history, anthropology, and humanities students to gain skills utilized in both gallery and museum settings, though we welcome applicants from any discipline.

Minimum Qualifications

Must be able to:
1. Lift 25-50 lbs safely
2. Clean and organize equipment and supplies for the gallery, storage closet and Art History & Art Appreciation area.
3. Assist in marketing—distributing printed materials
4. Responsible for assisting in installation and de-installation of art exhibits, maintenance, cleaning, and serving as a docent to assist visitors and secure artworks.
5. General clerical office duties for art faculty as directed (good computer skills)
6. Courteous, organized, punctual, and professional appearance and behavior
